Priced at $749.99 and available at Best Buy, the Dell Inspiron 15R-2728MRB delivers Core i5 power in a solid 15-inch desktop replacement laptop. Granted, this Core i5 is based on Intel's first-generation technology, but it is powerful nonetheless and is an upgrade to the Core i3-powered Insipron 15R-1847MRB that we reviewed in January. You get a generous selection of features with this laptop but its integrated graphics solution doesn't have the muscle required for gaming and its battery life is nothing to write home about, either. The 15R-2728MRB looks like a slightly larger version of the Inspiron 14R-1296PBL, save for the lid color. Whereas the Dell 14R-1296PBL's Peacock Blue hue gives it a decidedly stylish look, the 15R-2728MRB's Mars Black color is fairly ordinary, but it gets help from Dell's hinge-forward design, which exposes the brushed metal finish of the keyboard deck and gives the chassis a nice, solid feel. Gloss black finishes are notorious for attracting fingerprints, and the 15R-2728MRB is no different; you'll want to have a polishing cloth handy to keep the smudges at bay.
