The Inspiron 1545 belongs to Dell’s ‘15’ line and is designed to ‘give you the everyday features you need, all at a great value’.In line with its positioning the Dell boasts decent hardware specifications; you get a 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 3GB of DDR2 memory and a 15.6-inch LCD that runs at a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. The Inspiron ships with Windows 7 Ultimate and proved to be a quick performer. We were able to multi-task with several apps without any slowdowns, searches were accomplished in quick time and the Dell gave us 3 hours and 42 minutes of battery life on a full charge.Running our PCMark Vantage suite the 1545 returned strong numbers though CPU-intensive benchmark scores were lower than notebooks we’ve tested recently. Onthe whole the machine has enough oomph to tackle everyday applications but owing to its integrated video, it can’t handle most games. Our test sample boasted Dell's ‘Seaweed’ design and looked quite attractive. That said the black surfaces around the keyboard and trackpad became messy as fingerprints were retained.
