Cooler Master HAF XM Mid Tower Case Review

Cooler Master's HAF X full tower case was released about 2 years ago and since then it has been their premier full tower case. While full tower cases are great many people do not want a case that large or may not have room for it. For those who love all of the features of the HAF X Cooler Master has just released the HAF XM, which they say is “the essence of a HAF X distilled into its purest form; a mid-tower enclosure”. This mid tower case features support for up to four 200mm fans, a latched side panel, two external hot swap X-Docks, 3-way SLI or CrossFire support and dust filters on every intake! Let's jump right in and take a look! The Cooler Master MAF XM comes in a nice retail package. On the front there is a photo of the case. On the back there is an overview of the entire case highlighting many of its features. To give you a good idea of how the HAF XM comes and for a brief overview of the case check out our video below. The HAF XM is one of the larger mid tower cases that we have reviewed. The actual dimensions are 252.0(W) x 530.5(H) x 579.0(D)mm and it weighs in at about 23 lbs. Currently it is only available in black, no word yet if there will be any other colors released. The case itself looks almost identical to the HAF X, except for a few little things and of course its size.

CoolerMaster HAF XM Mid-Tower Chassis

As computer enthusiasts, one of our goals is to keep our system's internal heat levels to a minimum. Cooler Master has made this their mission, and over the years has built a reputation for doing it well. With the advent of their HAF (High Air Flow) series of cases they took it to a whole new level. We have had the opportunity to review several of the HAF series here at Bjorn3D, so when they offered us the chance to get our hands on the HAF XM, before it was on the market, we jumped at it. One of the things we liked about the HAF series was the futuristic/sci-fi feel of the design. The HAF XM has that same style of aesthetic without being a carbon copy of any previous HAF. But what we valued most was the performance. So now we are going to load this puppy up, and generate as much heat as we can to see if this latest offering can carry the torch forward for the HAF lineage. While we are at it, we will be looking at the numerous features offered in this chassis.

Cooler Master HAF XM Chassis Review

As a huge fan of the HAF 932, I fell in love at CES this year with Cooler Master’s new addition to the HAF (High Air Flow) series. The HAF XM was released today as the essence of the HAF X in the form of a mid-tower enclosure. It is not just a shorter version of the HAF X, but much like the X looked like the 932, the XM follows right in line with the same battle ready appearance. To me, it pulls the appearance of being the product if the HAF 932 and HAF X were to have an offspring. It brings the best of both worlds into a smaller better HAF. The HAF XM has full coverage fan filters protecting your hardware from kitty fur and dust. It has the ability to support up to four 200mm fans, with two already included. The front fan lights up in red like the other HAF cases and actually has an LED control button on the I/O panel to turn out the lights. After the X-Docking became a bit popular with the release of the CM Storm Trooper, the CM HAF has two semi-hidden X-Docks right up front for use. It has a lot to offer as a high-end tower designed for users that want full tower features in a compact enclosure. Let’s take a look at the new CM HAF XM (that’s a fun one to say ten times fast).
