CoolerMaster has been building quality components and cases for over ten years. They offer a range of features catering to the needs of their consumers. With cooling at the forefront of their design concepts, they have built a solid following amongst enthusiasts and gamers. The HAF series was aimed squarely at the gaming market. It found its mark with the HAF X, 912, 922, and 932 series. The 932 is the case we are concerned with today, specifically the latest version, termed HAF 932 Advanced. The new version offers some new features and keeps the old ones. Prices for this case currently run between $132 and $300 USD, depending on the retailer. The outside of the box is covered with pictures of the case, logos, and information. The USB 3.0 compatibility of the case is advertised on all four sides of the box. The front shows the face of the unit with the LED fan lit, and tells shoppers this is a High Air Flow (HAF) full-tower chassis. The back of the package shows a slightly different view of the front of the chassis along with three smaller views of the front straight on, the fan side of the case and the top. It also gives consumers a view of the cable routing system, the removable HDD racks, a mounting option for a 12x3cm radiator in the top, and the USB3.0 I/O connector and panel. The left side simply lists the specifications.
'Cooler Master' and 'HAF' have become well-known names in enthusiast circles, and for good reason. The company has been a major player in the case, CPU cooler and power supply market for as long as I can remember, with its HAF series of cases often proving to be some of the best enthusiast / gamer options out there. The HAF name stands for 'High Air Flow', so the goal of the series is clear. But, HAF cases are also designed to look good, catering to gamers, and provide a huge amount of features and no limitation on building the best PC possible. At the bottom of the chain is the mid-tower HAF 912, at around $60, and at the top is the ultra-popular HAF X - which happens to be the model we use for our graphics card testing machine. Just under the HAF X is this one, the HAF 932 Advanced. It builds upon the original, released almost three full years ago, improving both functionality and looks. This full-tower behemoth is constructed from steel with plastic accents and can handle micro-ATX, ATX and extended-ATX motherboards. The front panel shows off a good range of connectivity at the top with two sets of USB 2.0 ports on either side of an IEEE 1394. To the right is an eSATA port, 3.5mm microphone and headphone connections and the blue power and hard drive activity LEDs on the far right.
We first saw Cooler Master's impressively-sized original HAF chassis way back in late 2008. It came housing the first Core i7 machine we'd seen, the £4,000 Fi7epower MLK1610 from YOYOtech. At the time it was a record-breaking machine and with its rugged, industrial lines, the HAF was perfect for no-nonsense machine it surrounded. Since then there have been many other versions, including a couple of more reasonably sized iterations in the HAF 912 and HAF 922, and more recently the HAF X. Now this full-height tower is getting an update. So what's new? Well, either disappointingly or thankfully little, depending on your point of view. In terms of styling it's still that tall, capacious tower with the imposing, industrial lines on the outside, but now it's got a full black interior. That brings the 932 in line with the more modern, lower-end HAFs on the market. It's also now got USB 3.0 support, though that hasn't actually been incorporated in the build of the chassis itself. Instead Cooler Master has simply taken away one of the 5.25-inch bays and dropped in a dual-socket USB 3.0 module in the slot. That does, though, mean that you've still got the full complement of four USB 2.0 ports on the front panel.
Back in 2008, we had the good fortune to get a chance to take a look at Cooler Master's new HAF 932 chassis. I was very impressed with the case, (See the review ) and liked its monochromatic, industrial aesthetics very much. Consequently, I jumped at the chance to take a look at the AMD Limited Edition HAF 939, with its red accents and full side window. Since the two cases are largely identical, I'll be touching more on the changes that Cooler Master offers with the AMD edition. Cooler Master was founded with the mission of providing the industry's best thermal solutions.
