EA and Crytek released a patch today that adds DirectX 11 support to the sci-fi shooter. Snark aside, the new renderer looks incredible on a capable machine.You probably won't understand the list of technical terms that this update includes, like Parallax Occlusion Mapping or Sprite Based Bokeh Depth of Field. That won't make it any harder to see the differences between the old DirectX 9 version (yes, Crytek ignored the abomination that was DirectX 10 like everyone else) and the new DirectX 11 one.To enjoy the DirectX 11 improvements, you'll need a relatively modern card: an Nvidia GeForce GT 430 or better, or an ATI Radeon HD 5450 or better.
