Since I put a solid state drive in my new PC, a few people who have never used them before have asked me whether I think they are worth getting. Hopefully watching this will help you decide, although please keep in mind that this is not a clean install of windows - its a few months old. The main downside is that the cost per unit space is much larger than with conventional hard disk drives. I tried to offset this by buying a small one for windows and smaller programs (MS Office, Ventrilo, iTunes etc) and putting in a couple of relatively cheap normal hard disks for space hungry items such as games video and music.
