As more people adopt Blu-Ray as their choice for both entertainment and archival storage purposes, the demand for BD drives is increasing. With a storage capacity of 25GB for single layer and 50GB for dual layer, a lot of data can fit on one BD disc. Compare that with a DVD's capacity of 4.7GB for single layer and 9GB for dual layer, and it goes without saying that Blu-Ray is the future of optical storage. It's easy enough for desktop PC users to swap out an old DVD-RW drive for a new BD-RE drive, but it can be a bit more complicated for laptop users. One solution is to purchase an external BD-RE drive like the one I'll be reviewing today. Asus has sent me their SBW-06C1S-U slim Blu-Ray writer to check out, so let's get right to it and put this drive to the test. ASUS, a technology-oriented company with a global staff of more than ten thousand and blessed with one of the world's top R&D teams, is renowned for high-quality products and cutting-edge innovation. As a leading company in the new digital era, ASUS offers a complete product portfolio to compete in the new millennium.
