P67 Motherboard Round-up: Asus, Fatal1ty, GB, MSI

The second Asus motherboard in our round up is the P8P67 WS Revolution. As you can probably guess by its name, this board is designed for power users, built with the NF200 controller to enhance bandwidth availability when using up to four graphics cards. The multi-GPU support on the WS Revolution is unmatched at this price point, as it comfortably houses 2 or 3-way SLI, quad-CrossFireX, or four NVIDIA Quadro GPUs. The WS Revolution is one of the most expensive P67 boards within the Asus line up. Only the Maximus IV Extreme costs more. But there are plenty of choices available for those looking for a motherboard of this type. The following are several features we would like to point out about the Pro. This board offers a large bundle to go along with it. We come across product documentation, eight SATA cables, drivers disk, SLI bridges, eSATA/USB bracket, Q-connectors, and the I/O shield. The rear I/O panel is home to a PS/2 connection, Firewire, two RJ45 LAN ports, two USB 3.0 ports, eight USB 2.0 ports,, an optical S/PDIF out, a coaxial S/PDIF out, and 6 audio connections.

ASUS P8P67 WS Revolution Intel P67 Motherboard Review

ASUS’s P8P67 line of motherboards is huge, as of writing this review there are currently 10 P8P67 motherboards in the lineup. Today we are going to be checking out the ASUS P8P67 WS Revolution board. The “WS” implies that it is a workstation board but the “Revolution” means this board is not just made for standard workstation use, but in-home use and gaming applications. Because this is a workstation board you get all of the features that you would expect on a workstation board like SATA 6GB/s connectivity, platinum level 92% power efficiency, dual Intel Gigabit LAN, Digi+ VRM digital power design, EFI BIOS and USB 3.0 connectivity. Gamers don’t worry ASUS has you covered with 3-way SLI and quad-CrossFireX capabilities and unlike most boards the PCI-E slots are nicely spaced for those setups. Read on to see what this board is all about. Special thanks to ASUS for providing us with the P8P67 WS Revolution Intel P67 Motherboard to review. The P8P67 WS Revolution comes in a nice retail package. On the front there is not a whole lot of information, just a lot of emblems of all the technologies the board has and supports.

ASUS P8P67 WS Revolution

ASUS has had some very successful workstation motherboards in the past. These motherboards provide features that are not normally seen on standard gaming or mainstream motherboards, and are server compatible for those looking into building cheaper server systems. ASUS Workstation motherboards are also famous for their multiple PCI-E slot support, allowing for extremely powerful systems with four Nvidia TESLA cards, or perhaps powerful server systems with multiple PCI-E SAS (Serial-Attached SCSI) RAID cards. Pairing up this motherboard with a powerful RAID card, a few server quality hard drives, and some other powerful hardware can produce an amazing server system that doesn't need an expensive server motherboard. Today we have another great motherboard from ASUS: the P8P67 WS Revolution - B3 Revision. This motherboard is designed for the latest Intel Sandy Bridge microarchitecture, running on the LGA 1155 platform. It also sports a revised P67 Cougar Town chipset, to fix the problems that prompted the recall. For those that don't know about the Cougar Town recall, Intel had a major setback with the Sandy Bridge launch due to a chipset defect that would degrade the SATA III ports over time.
