Asus G75VW-DS71
The Asus G75VW-DS71 is a gaming laptop that captivates your attention the instant you take it out of the box. It's branded with Asus' Republic of Gamers logo, so you know it's aimed at the gamer audience. It has impressive hardware - a quad-core processor, 12GB of RAM, two 750GB hard drives, and Nvidia Kepler graphics - that give it the chops to do serious work during the day and play (somewhat) hard at night. It's also nicely priced for the midrange gaming category, coming in under $1,750. If you're looking for a performance PC that makes a few concessions to reach a palatable price tag, take a long look at this system, but those wanting the most powerful gaming PC available should search elsewhere. The G75VW is definitely not an ultraportable: It measures roughly 2 by 16.5 by 12.75 inches (HWD), and weighs just over 9 pounds without its included power adapter and mouse (which bring it up to 12 pounds). Thus, it's really designed to move around the house rather than serve as your regular commuter laptop - unless your daily commute is to a gaming center and you have Herculean strength and stamina.

ASUS long ago solidified its reputation as a manufacturer of downright sexy multimedia laptops, but with the 17.3-inch G75VW, it's out to prove that it can beat Alienware at its own game. Packing an Intel Core i7 Ivy Bridge processor from Intel, 12GB of RAM, Nvidia's latest Nvidia GeForce GTX 660M graphics and more gaming-related features than you can shake a batarang at, the G75VW looks set to take the crown as the premier gaming notebook. The notebook sports a soft-touch plastic lid with the ASUS and Republic of Gamers logos displayed prominently in the center. (The shieldlike Republic of Gamers design bears a passing resemblance to Ferrari's logo, too.)The keyboard rests on an aluminum deck that wraps around the back of the notebook, and above it, a speaker grille runs the length of the system. The rubberized soft-touch plastic palm rests made using the keyboard for extended periods of time exceedingly comfortable. Large rear-facing vents complete the G75VW's sportscar aesthetic. Our only complaint is that the lid picks up fingerprints more quickly than we would have liked.
