I put in Amazon links so you can read more reviews: 1) Asus Republic of Gamers G73Jh www.amazon.com -Touch pad has good response and keys are placed well. Along with the price, this easily makes it one of the best gaming laptops in the market. 2 )Alienware M17x www.amazon.com -Arguably the fastest gaming laptop in the market. However, it's pretty expensive. 3)iBuypower Battalion Touch CZ-10 www.amazon.com -Good price and battery life, but the keyboard has some problems with sensitivity. 4)Eurocom D900F Panther (2010 Version) -Pretty expensive, but has great speed. 5)Alienware M15x www.amazon.com -One of the most formidable 15 inch gaming laptops in the market. 6)MSI GT660R www.amazon.com -Not as big and heavy as most gaming laptops. 7)Dell XPS M 1730 www.amazon.com -Fast and quiet and has great value for its price. 8)Dell Studio XPS 16 www.amazon.com -A very nice design with a leather trim and backlit keyboard, but has fairly poor battery life and 1080p display costs more. 9)Toshiba Qosmio X505 Q890 www.amazon.com -Not as powerful as some gaming laptops but can play the latest games effectively. 10) HP Envy 17-1050ea www.amazon.com -Has a great design and hi res screen, but it can get pretty hot when running.

**UPDATE ON MAY 31, 2010** I could go on forever about the good stuff this laptop has to offer, but we already know those. It's fast, the screen resolution is awesome. You can't go wrong with 8GB of RAM. The GPU is the best on the market (for now)... 480M coming soon of course. Needless to say, I'm still in love with the laptop and it does everything I need it to. ******************************* People have been wanting a review of this unit, and I finally did one. I forgot to say at the end of the video that my conclusion about this laptop is it's near perfect if you're wanting a 17" model. Leave comments if you're wanting to know something specific about the laptop and I'll try to make another review compilation with answers. Recorded on my cell phone, so the quality isn't great - but the information is there. :)

This video was made as a request to see how the G73 can handle this game at all MAX settings, these are not the settings I play it on, nor are they what any G73 owner would want to play it on. It is just a requested test and there were a few comments already posted on this video to that fact and I guess I could have made notes using captions, but there's no guarantee those would have been read or understood either. Thisvideo shows an Asus G73JH RoG gaming laptop running Battlefield Bad Company 2 in the Sand. MAX settings with stock (unedited) settings.ini file. 1920x1080 like my other BFBC2 videos. This is with the 10.3 preview drivers and stock GPU clocks of 700x1000. FRAPS is running as it will be in all my game videos. I did not use Asus Twin Turbo. i7 720QM ATI 5870m 8GB DDR3 1333 Intel x25m G2 Thanks for watching. Join us at the Notebook Review Forums. Q

Thisvideo shows an Asus G73JH RoG gaming laptop running Crysis in SP mission mode. All High, noAA at 1920x1080 resolution. I should have tried enabling Vsync and Triple buffer for the screen tearing, but didn't and it's really not that bad. This is with the stock 9.12 catalyst drivers that come with the G73 and stock GPU clocks of 700x1000. FRAPS is running. My cams auto focus has some issues here when the video is blurring. I see now this happens when I record during daylight even though shades are drawn. I have no intention of a MP video. Please don't ask me to adjust or go max settings. Max settings gets low teens avg. FPS. This game is on the uninstall list as is when HDD space is needed. If any game I have could use a performance boost from newer drivers, it is this one. When I upgrade drivers, I will revisit these scenes to see how much it got. i7 720QM ATI 5870m 8GB DDR3 1333 Intel x25m G2 Thanks for watching. Join us at the Notebook Review Forums. Q

After having to RMA my first G73JH-X1 for an unrelated hardware failure after 30 days, the replacement A1 model they sent has shown (100% imo) another hardware failure within 2 days of receiving, and really only that long because I wasn't loading the GPU until the second day. So this is RMA 2 of 2 and it is being shipped back for Asus tech diagnosis. I have many videoed examples of this crash. It comes with a few different color crash screens (this one is orange) and maybe 1 of 7 crashes exhibit this sound. I am hoping things can be resolved as I really want a good G73. You can skip to the 7:40 mark to see the crash. I tried 3 OS installations. 1) A fresh W7 on a SSD with Asus only drivers and no bloat (no creative) 2) Initial Asus OEM OS installation 3) F9 Asus OS reinstallation All installations had proper windows and DX updates. All games ran SP. Creative software was installed on the 2 Asus OEM, but they were not adjusted. Steam was not installed on any of the 3 installations. UPDATE: Because I had nothing better to do after I sent my 2nd G73 back due to my diagnosis of a faulty GPU, I further researched based on what johnyrockshell said and found the following AMD forum link: forums.amd.com and this at Guru3D: forums.guru3d.com I did not have this problem with near a month of use on my 1st G73 and all of the G73 owners I know and most of the ones I follow at the NBR forums have not had this problem (I'm unlucky here as I think we already established ;), but imo ...
