Laptop Reviews: Compare PC and Mac Laptops and Netbooks

The Asus Eee PC 1015PW joins the ranks of what is already a very extensive netbook range. Like the MSI Wind U160DX, as it can't claim an original configuration, this 10.1 inch is counting on an unusual design and colours to set itself apart on the netbook market. Different to the black or white Eee PC 1015s we've seen up to now, the chassis comes in a choice of gold (test version), pink or violet. The texture of the coating on the top of the hood also differs from the previous models in the range, which were completely smooth up until now. this 1015PW is rough. Although a few elements of the finish could be improved, the overall impression is coherent and high quality. The 1015PW's keyboard with separated keys (14 x 13 mm) is very nice to use. Supple and relatively quiet, it offers comfortable keying. We were however less convinced by the reduced size of the Ctrl, Shift and arrow keys. You'll often find yourself missing them when trying to type. In other words, the same keyboard as on all the others in the 1015 range. The multi-touch touchpad is bordered with two slim aluminium coloured bands that run down either side and there's a big click bar underneath.
