The Radeon HD 6670 and 6570 GPUs were designed to replace the older Radeon HD 5670 and 5570 GPUs respectively. The 6670 and 6570 were also meant to be used in graphics cards selling for US $99 and $79, so when we realised the EAH6670/DIS/1GD5 retails for a staggering $190, we were shocked.Studying the card closely we found precious little to justify the Asus’ extremely high price tag. The card’s GPU and 1GB of GDDR5 memory are clocked at 810MHz and 4GHz, which means that this is essentially a standard spec card. The Asus’ GPU runs just 10MHz faster than what AMD recommends. There isn’t a massive cooling system in place either but, that said, we never ever heard the cooling fan even after gaming for a few hours.Running the card through our standard benchmark suite, the Asus produced strong numbers that placed it ahead of most of the other Radeon HD 6670 cards we’ve tested in the past. You’ll be able to play most modern DirectX 10 games with fairly high detail settings at up to 1,680 x 1,050 pixels without worry but DirectX 11 titles, expectedly, are somewhat beyond this GPU’s reach.
