This is the first of many videos to come on this setup! I've been busy working on a way to get multiple monitors to work using multiple graphics cards under the latest versions of Ubuntu. I had been testing intrepid but now that KDE 4.2.2 and Jaunty are available, I've gone ahead and moved to it. I'll be posting an extensive HOWTO in the Ubuntu forums on how this was done. I've hacked to gether the retired xserver-xgl from Ubuntu Hardy to get it to work w/ Jaunty Jackalope. Now we have it working with KDE 4.2.2 with full compiz fusion effects and mouse gestures using EasyStroke ( easystroke.wiki.sourceforge.net ) as you can see from this video! This was a quick video I made of our latest production workstation - The firefox windows come up quickly even with a mp3 playing with visualization on one screen... Which is nice.. but then you realize its really impressive once you see whats going on in the background.. Running Intel quad core cpu with 3x nvidia 8800GTX's - its a 3way sli motherboard but the cards are all running independently. (Complete specs are listed below). Had to use xserver-xgl to get it working correctly. Each vertical row of monitors (3) is running in a twinview configuration- then I use xinerama to combine those 3 virtual monitors together. Tie it all together with another Fake xinerama patch that forces windows to maximize to each monitor and you have once nice setup.. I'll post more videos and blog a breakdown of the workstation later - we documented the workstation build with photos so it should make for a good write-up. If anyone is interested - we do custom build and sell these workstations - and they can run windows applications using virtual solutions as well. Well... here is my beauty! ^^ This is my gaming computer, got it about three days ago. This alltogether cost me £870. (Thats about $1750) gee, am I happy with this. X3 The case is called Antec-900. Gamers case, with many fans and many lights. Verrry nice. and surprisingly, Silent! I have a 20" widescreen, which I love, fits perfectly. 5 Speakers, One subwoofer, and 2 boom boxes. Saitek Eclipse 2 Mouse. I can change the backlight colours between, Red, Blue, and Purple. My mouse is a CyberSnipa Inteliscope, colours Red and Blue. 1600dpi (very good sesitivity). A webcam (hi! ) 1.3mp. And Inside the case? (for gamers to know) Nvidia 9800GTX graphics card, 4GB Ultra RAM, Intel Quad Q6600. 700W PSU. All I can say is I am proud to brag about this... because ever sicne Christmas, this was my goal. And now it's finally complete. ^^
